The subcutaneous fatty tissue is almost completely absent in the eye area. Blood vessels shimmer slightly through the epidermis. If blood circulation is slowed down, e.g. due to over-tiredness, metabolic disorders, hours of work at the PC, etc., dark circles appear under the eyes.
The facial skin around the eyes contains no sebaceous glands and its hydrolipidic film is correspondingly less pronounced. For this reason, it requires special care.
The supply of blood vessels is lower, which means that the nutrient supply via microcirculation is weaker. Wrinkle formation occurs earlier.
The various muscles of the eye area are mainly responsible for blinking, but have no supportive function. The eye area is therefore less elastic.
The constant movement through speech, facial expressions, emotional expressions and over 10,000 blinks per day continuously strain this delicate skin area. Therefore, the tendency to develop expression lines, bags under the eyes and crow's feet is very high.
Precisely this already vulnerable eye area has an increased number of certain cells, mast cells. These play a key role in triggering allergic reactions. This explains why intolerances most frequently occur in the eye area.
Due to the supine position, water and lymph accumulations are promoted overnight. Therefore, the eye area is often swollen.
These factors and daily stresses such as stress, too much sun, little sleep, nicotine, air conditioning, cold and wind add to the physiological skin aging.
