RE SKIN was developed to soothe, stabilize, and repair even the most sensitive and over-treated skin. To achieve this, we not only have to decide what ingredients to use, but, more importantly, what to leave out.

We work completely without emulsifiers and without traditional preservatives – a principle that protects the skin barrier and maximizes the effectiveness of our active ingredients.

Before we explain why we consistently avoid them, let's first clarify what emulsifiers actually are.

What emulsifiers actually are

Emulsifiers are substances that combine oil and water. They ensure that a cream gets its typical creamy texture and remains stable. They are found in almost all conventional creams – regardless of price or brand positioning.

You can think of emulsifiers as small mediators that make fat and water form a uniform mass.
This works well in the cream.
But not on the skin.

Why emulsifiers are problematic for the skin barrier

1. They dissolve the skin's natural lipids
   This makes the skin barrier more permeable. Moisture escapes, leading to dryness, and the skin becomes more sensitive.

2. The skin reacts more quickly to irritation
   Repeated contact with emulsifiers increases sensitivity: redness, tightness, and reactive skin are often the result.

3. They promote over-treatment and congestion
   Some emulsifiers leave a film that clogs pores, hinders natural regeneration, and disrupts the skin's appearance.

4. They amplify irritation chains
   Many people react not to the active ingredient itself, but to the combination of emulsifiers, fragrances, and conventional preservatives.

Why RE SKIN is formulated without emulsifiers

Why we also avoid traditional preservatives

Preservatives such as phenoxyethanol, benzoates, sorbates, or similar systems are suspected of irritating the skin barrier, promoting allergies, and triggering micro-inflammations.
Especially sensitive or already over-treated skin often reacts to them with burning, redness, or instability.

We consistently avoid them and instead use:

• particularly mild antimicrobial systems

• multifunctional raw materials with preserving properties

• a pH-optimized environment that protects the skin

This keeps the formulation safe and stable – without stressing the barrier.

Why the interaction is so important

The combination of DMS, emulsifier-free formulation, and gentle, skin-friendly preservation approaches creates an ideal basis for our active ingredients.
